(2011)

Z radostjo v srcu sem torej zbral vse potrebne podatke in spisal slavilno odo v čast tej poroki. Pesem je napisana v stilu starih angleških in škotskih pesmi, ki so jih peli ljudski bardi. To zelo pritiče k nadvse slovesnemu dogodku. Enajst verzov (odlomek »When April […] on pilgrimage«) pa sem pobral iz Canterburyskih zgodb (Geoffrey Chaucer: Canterbury Tales, 14. stoletje v Angliji), ostalo je moje.

Torej, zapojmo :

THE ROYAL WEDDING

Oh, pretty girls of England, ye valiant boys,

the day draws near when our hearts rejoice!

And ye, fair maidens, ye proud men – here’s the story

of when our country shall shine in Royal glory.

Oh yeah! In throes of joy we tremble

as our heartiest prayers we assemble:

For you, our Prince, the Second to the Throne,

as kin to us as marrow to the bone;

for you, sweet Kate, the Fay of our hearts,

a marvel indescribable by bards

like me, a humble poet, yet born to adore

of our homeland the highest Royal lore.

Yeah, the day draws near when our Sun doth spread his rays

to grant the Moon his most excellent embrace.

I bow to Kate and Willie: your sweet love shines

upon this world of plenty and all of us entwines.

The epic of Prince William now I shall tell;

Oh children of brave Kingdom, now ye listen well!

He threw his Royal gaze on her while still in teens,

that’s how this gentle, precious, bright love song begins.

Through seven years and more they fed their fount of love,

in his manly arms she grew more charming than a dove.

She opened her watery eyes like buds of a lotus flower,

safe and protected by his Royal power.

Led by her wise inspiration he thoroughly completed

his Royal studies, he never was defeated.

Her admiration for him grew in due course,

so sexy in his uniform of the Royal Air Force!

A rescue pilot, and yet of mild complexion,

in attention to his subjects who love him in warm affection.

Long live Prince William, a rare model of sun riders!

Oh William dear, the conqueror of tigers!

And so one day they fled the bleakness of October,

he took her to Kenya, determined, well-poised, and sober.

Atop the highest peak where there’s a deep blue lake,

that’s our Willie, the rescue pilot, only he could take

her there. And by the lake he dropped to his knee,

soft grass around as far as one could see,

and clouds aroaming idle in the sky,

and the calm lake mirrored the glint in her eye.

He takes her pretty hand to stick on the engagement ring,

and the angels sing forth: “Can any more Life bring?”

Here is the giant Sri Lankan purest blue sapphire,

embroidered with most precious diamond attire!

Twenty jewels plus the central blue gem, worth millions, twenty-eight,

matching the age of Kate and Willie, this couple so damned straight.

Ye merry folks of England: our Prince declares his bride!

Angelic voices resound across the crystal sky.

From old Kenya originates all our human race,

from Kenya back to London town sweet William took his trace.

The Royals cannot spill a fault with such a great event,

so first Her Majesty the Queen bestowed her wise consent.

As the news spread with the speed of light, there was a huge outburst

of ecstatic joy and harmony across the entire Earth.

Great cheer went up – lo! See the country thrive in preparations

for the Royal nuptials, the most ravishing public celebrations.

As in olden days Lord Buddha set movement to the Wheel of Dharma,

now the Royal pair will look upon the threads of our karma.

Oh poets! Let’s sing praise to the mighty Royal lore:

Sweet William marries Kate for the Kingdom to restore!

And while our matchless Royal fleets sail across the oceans

in Westminster Abbey the young pair is going through the motions.

Soft whispers flutter down the aisle, hear of the excitement’s growth!

The Archbishop of Canterbury recites the Wedding Oath.

When April with his showers sweet with fruit

the drought of March has pierced unto the root,

and bathed each vein with liquor that has power

to generate therein and sire the flower,

when Zephyr also has, with his sweet breath,

quickened again, in every holt and heath,

the tender shoots and buds, and the young sun

into the Ram one half his course has run,

and many little birds make melody

that sleep through all the night with open eye,

then do folk long to go on pilgrimage,

great days of our country to enrich.

I join the streams to London, to attend

as humble bard this exquisite event.

Yeah, each of us received an invitation

to join this joyful Royal celebration.

For this brand new wedding day I emptied out my purse,

in the milling crowds of London I am now happily immersed.

All the church bells of Kingdom are sounding great news about

this precious moment when in the Abbey the Oath is spoken out.

See mothers with their daughters transfixed in tears of joy:

Is there a trace of loneliness that this day won’t destroy?

Ecstatic cries! Here’s the Royal carriage, air-raids of flowers fall,

see these proud white Lipizzaners advancing up the Mall!

Her Majesty the Queen awaits to greet the lovely pair

in the Buckingham Palace, oh, where everything’s prepared

for the great feast and dance, beyond the most daring wishes,

Prince Charles, he himself is serving eco-friendly dishes.

See again the diamond ring of love, bright like the Morning Star,

inherited from Lady Di, the Queen of our Hearts!

Oh poets! Sing praise to this great day that wiped out every worry,

for the whole Kingdom is in a trance, the trance of Royal glory.
